GREG HEIL, Co-Founder AHKí Retreat

After many years of dreaming, searching and planning, Greg has managed to peel himself away from the corporate jungle to find his truth in the real, actual jungle of Costa Rica. Having put in his 110% on Wall Street and the World Trade Center in NYC and then on to Baltimore, MD to co-spearhead a new telecom location there, Greg felt it was time to trade in the fluorescent lights and recycled office air for sunshine and warm breezes. Greg began his journey back in 2006 with the Johns Hopkins Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit in Baltimore where he participated in a blind study on the spiritual effects of entheogens. This 8 month study awakened him to the realization that there is surely something more and it was time to go find it.

Of course the search is ongoing, but he hopes his journey might inspire others to seek their own truth.

Karen’s own life-long journey of awakening and healing has brought her to a place of appreciation for the magic and the mysteries. It is through her own inner-work and healing that she brings compassion and a heartfelt desire to help others along their path towards wholeness. Her personal practice consists of meditation and yoga; Holotropic Breathwork; journeying; shadow work; dream journaling; insightful blogging; art, and the ongoing study of Vastu Shastra (the Vedic art and science of creating sacred space). She considers her teachers to be many: Jack Kornfield, Stanislav Grof, Joseph Campbell, Paul Grilley, Aachan Anthony James and Buddha to name a few and of course, Greg, her family and friends.

It is her aim and mission to support the healing that is so needed in today’s world. She believes, now more than ever, more of us are searching for ways to become more healthy, not just in our bodies, but in our minds, our hearts and our spirits.

TOGETHER

After a joining of 26 years in life, Greg and Karen now join together in business. It is from this coming together, AHKí is born. They believe that the search for truth has become less about looking outside of ourselves for what the world can offer, and more about looking within for what our own spirits are waiting to provide. It is by this grace that they feel so fortunate to be able to offer a sacred space that helps facilitate and honor people on their own path towards healing and inner growth.

What can we say about Paulo, he adopted us. He came up our mountain one day and never left. He is our love-muffin, our court jester, our fierce “perro bravo” – brave and faithful protector and just plain fun to have around.
